Springbank Building - Springbank, AB

To create an energy efficient building that is extremely comfortable for the occupants, a number of innovative materials and systems were incorporated. SIPS panels were used for the exterior walls and then cladded in both EIFS stucco and profiled metal sheeting with natural light being provided by full height, triple glazed windows. An automatically controlled lighting system, solar tubes on the roof, and geothermal heating/cooling partnered with a traditional heating system combined together helped reduce the buildings energy consumption.

The building has a future plan to include the addition of a CHP (combined heat and power system) that would supplement the geothermal system by providing electricity for the building and the capability of selling surplus electricity back to the grid.
